What’s It All About?

Negative stereo types based on myths and say so have continued to raise and influence.

This influences not only the way other communities see Gypsies and Travellers, but sadly how they are beginning to see themselves.

We want to create a lasting archive of REAL Gypsy and Traveller history, we want the Gypsy and Traveller communities of Doncaster to tell us about their past and their families using their own words and images.

We are carrying out this work with a grant from Heritage Lottery, by the end of the funding we will have had 2 exhibitions in Doncaster, produced a coffee table book, a magazine and a blog. we want to train up people from the communities to take care of this blog themselves, so it never grows out dated or stale. Community members will be trained on collecting oral histories, writing a blog, producing books, setting up a web page and much much more.
