Proud Gypsy Traveller CIC is an asset locked Community Interest Company set up by Gypsy and Traveller people to ensure that our voices — real, lived, unfiltered voices — are heard on our own terms.

For too long, narratives about our lives have been written about us rather than by us. So we built an organisation that can respond directly to what our communities need — not what funders think we should do.

We do apply for grant funding when it aligns with our values, priorities, and the lived realities of our people. But we will not reshape our community’s truth to fit someone else’s template.

What That Means

We are asset-locked, so all profits are reinvested into Gypsy and Traveller communities.

We generate earned income so we retain autonomy — the freedom to act quickly and respond to real need.

When funding opportunities genuinely fit our mission, we pursue them strategically and responsibly.

If someone needs support, we can issue a gift voucher without waiting for permission.

If there is research that matters to our community but sits outside mainstream priorities, we carry it out anyway.

We exist to build, to challenge, and to celebrate.

We exist to be heard — and to make sure our communities are not just consulted, but centred.
