What does “Traveller” mean?

Traveller is an umbrella term used by many to identify a number of individuals and groups.

The term covers 3 Ethnic, 2 Economic and 2 Lifestyle Groups.

Romany Gypsy, Travellers of Irish Heritage and Scottish Gypsy Travellers are 3 separate and distinct Ethnic Minority groups with separate, culture, custom and language to each other.

Travelling Show People (fairground) and Circus people are economic Travellers. New Travellers and Bargees are lifestyle travellers.

All are protected under the Equalities act
